Many breast cancers rely on estrogen signaling for growth. ERD drugs work by:
Binding to the estrogen receptor.
Blocking its activity.
Promoting its degradation and removal from the cell.
Reducing estrogen-dependent tumor growth.
Unlike therapies that primarily block the receptor, ERDs are designed to decrease the amount of estrogen receptor present within cancer cells.
